About us
My name is Jayne Barker. Throughout my life, I have worked in office settings; however, in 2020, at the age of 47, I experienced an Ischemic Stroke. Although I returned to work, I found it challenging and sensed that others did not fully comprehend my situation. Consequently, I exited the corporate world in December 2024 and embarked on my journey to recovery.
During my various challenges, my small dog Milo has consistently been by my side. He is attuned to my emotions, whether I am joyful, sorrowful, or anything in between.
Additionally, I have found joy from walking my friend's dog. This experience made me realise that this is where I truly belong.
'a walk in the park' emerged from my passion for dogs and the beauty of nature as a natural healer. As a local enterprise in York, we provide customised dog walking services with a focus on detail. Our commitment lies in delivering a safe, enjoyable, and dependable experience for your beloved pet, ensuring their health and happiness.
I am fully insured, DBS checked and can provide references.

Happy Pooch, happy owners
You can't replace the walk with a large back garden. It’s not just about exercise. It’s a basic psychological need. It doesn't matter how much time the dog gets playing or off lead.
The walk satisfies a psychological need to travel, move from A to B.
